About Louis E. Verstringhe, M.D.

Dr. Louis E. Verstringhe III was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the 6-year accelerated medical school program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Verstringhe was then elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society, by his peers recognizing him for his commitment and dedication, to the art of healing, professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, and community service. He then completed his ophthalmology residency training at the renowned Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, the top-ranked school in Ohio and one of the leading research universities in the U.S., where he served as Chief Resident. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Verstringhe is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology specializing in general/comprehensive ophthalmology. He is a proud member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Verstringhe is married to Carolyn Chen, M.D., a Vitreoretinal specialist at Houston Eye Associates. They have two daughters and a son and live in The Woodlands area.
